We did a 2 hour whitewater tubing trip in Harpers Ferry today. Our trip started at 10 am and as it turns out, we were the only ones there! I talked to one of the outfitters and he told me that the weekday mornings are very sparse. I didn’t imagine them being this sparse, though! We damn near had the river to ourselves! I saw only 2 other tubers from another rafting company and before we landed I saw a few white water rafters. It was a beautiful day with clear skies and air temp in high 70s. Winding down …
We went out to Lake Liganore for the 4th this year, where Heather and Perry took us out on a jaunt around the lake on their boat. There was, however, a new element added to the festivities this year: a paddle board! Now I have never personally been in a paddle board and neither has Meghan. Perry had warned me that his previous guests had difficulty balancing on it. That said, Meghan ambitiously jumped on and wasted no time paddling around. When it was my turn, Perry advised that the balance gets better when you get some speed. Sure enough, …
Pam, Meghan and I are enjoying some time in Ottawa. We did a tour of the Fairmont Château Laurie. Cool side story, we were waiting in the lobby for the tour group and did not see the cast of Lord of the Rings standing just a few feet from us. They were here for a conference. We had to have the rest of the tour group tell us about it later – we felt like idiots!
We did a grand-tour through PA, starting with two days in Hershey and then we drove out to OhioPyle. We got a big cabin in the woods and explored as much as we could. We did a day of whitewater rafting, took a tour of Falling Water, visited a winery and distillery, visited Fort Necessity, went to the depths of Laurel Caverns, watched the 4th of July fireworks at Deep Creek, and man am I tired! We had a pretty active vacation and I’m glad we got a chance to explore so much. I’m happy to be back
Took Meghan out of School and had Justin accompany us to a library on the far end of Howard County to watch the solar eclipse.
Just had a round of fresh snow and the view from the window is spectacular. Also had a good time with snow to kick this year off. Meg and I got a full day at Liberty with no lines at the lift. Gotta love teacher work Mondays.
It took some time for it to come together but I got my Bender costume assembled. The body and head were made from Sakrete tubes. Most of the effort was on the head. The dome was a foam half sphere that I picked up at Michaels. Benders antenna is a plastic landscape nail topped with a ping pong ball. His eyes are foam balls. The pupils are construction tape. I cut holes in the foam balls and ping pong ball and inserted LED balloon lights. The visor was a cardboard box that I cut to shape and hot-glued in place. …
